Why Matinee exists
We built Matinee because picking a movie with someone else is broken. Streaming services optimize for solo attention, not shared decisions. The average couple wastes 110 hours a year deciding what to watch. Matinee is the simple web tool that fixes that — free, no app, and it works the second you send the link.
Who built it
Matinee is built by a small team that was tired of losing every Friday night to the same argument. One of us scrolls Netflix, the other scrolls Prime, nobody agrees, and we end up watching something neither of us is excited about — or nothing at all.
We wanted the simplest tool possible: open a link, swipe on a few titles, match on what you both want. No app install, no account for your partner, no room codes. So we built it.
